Guide to Map and Lists of Graves at St Giles Church Goodrich

TO ACCOMPANY MAP COMPLETED IN MAY 1993

AND REVISED IN MAY 2004

WITH LIST OF BURIALS TO 13 JULY 2014

This is a compilation of two lists, one pre-1900 and the other post 1900.  The pre-1900 list in Goodrich churchyard was compiled from information supplied by Gwent Family History Society in July 1989, when they recorded `pre early 1900 Memorial Inscriptions.  There are many gravesites/monuments with no legible information on them, and there are others where the inscriptions are only partly legible.  The list therefore only contains the names of people it is believed are buried here.  In no case has any attempt been made to verify the information from Parish records or burial registers.

Visitors interested in any particular family surname may find more information on the monuments, which they can locate by reference to the plan, or in the burial register which is held by Hereford Diocesan Office.

A transcript of the Memorial Inscriptions which the Gwent Family History Society managed to read is kept in the Church.

There are two list, one by Surname and Given Name, and one by Plot Number.  Two digit Plot Numbers are pre 1900 and three digit plot numbers post 1900.  Square brackets [436] refer to burials that are recorded, but nothing is visible.

There is also a map of the graves and other monuments.  This also can be seen in the church.
